An epoxy material is actually made of two ingredients that are combined together to create a reaction which forms a really tough and durable layer. The two ingredients are in liquid form until they are combined together and left to cure. At this point, the liquid mixture turns into a very tough solid. This is the same process used in manufacturing camper shells and fiberglass boats. The difference between the boats and coating is that the former is a standalone fiberglass unit which needs the support of mesh webbing while on the floor the concrete is going to act as support. The epoxy becomes the surface.
The installation of a garage floor coating is actually simple and there are a lot of color choices for it. Originally, the only available color was industrial grey which didn’t really look better than the original grey color of concrete slabs. Today, you can have almost any hue found in the rainbow in tinting the epoxy. You can also buy a separate kit for color flakes which you can spread out. These color chips cover the surface once it is rolled out but before it has been cured. This increases the excitement further by making the floor surface of the garage more dressed up.
The garage floor is often taken for granted because people assume that the concrete is indestructible. This is actually not true at all. You will see more life out of the floor if you give it protection by using an epoxy-based floor system.
